About this event

Booking for all of our Learning for Leisure courses is via our Eventbrite pages. If you are no longer able to attend a course, we may be able to refund the course cost up to 7 days before the course start date. We will retain up to 10% of the payment to cover costs incurred by us.

We reserve the right for refunds to be issued by cheque.

Design and create beautiful and useful pieces of tapestry weaving.

Venue: Derbyshire Eco Centre

Approximate course length:

5.5 hours

This course is for:

Beginners or the more experienced who would like to learn and develop the craft of tapestry weaving.

You will learn:

Design and create your own tapestry weaving using a simple loom. Learn how to warp up and use the loom to weave your own colourful and patterned woven fabric. This could then be made into a small wall hanging or bag.

This is a classroom based workshop which will provide an opportunity to develop your willow weaving skills in a friendly, sociable environment.

You will be given the support you require for your individual development.

There are no exams or formal assessments.

There will be chance to ask questions and put what you have learned into practice.

Your tutor will give you feedback during the course and you will be able to self-assess.

Work outside of sessions:

This is not required, though we hope you will want to put what you have learned into practice.

Additional costs and what to prepare:

There is a fee of £10 for materials which can be paid at the centre.

All equipment and materials will be provided, however, you can add some of your own yarns, if you like.

You may wish to progress to Indigo Tie Dyeing

Course fees explained

Some of our courses are free of charge. Others have a full fee and a lower ‘concessions’ rate for those on certain benefits. This may vary from course to course so please ask when enquiring about a particular course. For many of our learning for leisure courses we use three different fee bands:

Fee A: Full fee

Fee B: Derbyshire Gold cards holders

Fee C: Concessions for those on certain benefits/allowances – details are on our How to fund your learning page.

There may be additional costs on some courses for materials please ask for details.

If selecting one of the reduced rates, you will be asked to show proof of entitlement when attending course.


A booking fee is charged by Eventbrite for each booking, this is retained by Eventbrite and included in the advertised fee. Derbyshire Adult Community Education Service receive the course fee.
