Implementing a stretch and challenge model in your classroom requires pupils to recognise that learning should be difficult. This may seem like a pretty obvious statement to make but often, without recognising it, teachers can set a limit on what we think pupils can do. Task design to stretch and challenge your pupils comes from knowing the curriculum really, really well. This session looks at combining a range of core knowledge with fractions, decimals, percentages and ratio (FDPR), and writing tasks that enable us to uncover planning that provides careful thought into the underpinning concepts of proportionality and reasoning for pupils’ learning.
