About this event
Welcome to the Taste Makers Meetup!
Taste Makers Meetup is for producers and sellers of high quality food and drink products as well as anyone keen to get into this.
Starting something and keeping it going is exciting but also lonely and tough. This meetup gives you the chance to meet others who get it.
No gimmicks. No hard selling. No pressure. Just a chance to to have a good ol' chat over a drink with people in the same boat.
If you already run a food/drink related business, are testing out ideas, have a side hustle or just curious about what it takes to start something, please come along.
I'll do what I can to make sure there is an opportunity to learn from experienced entrepreneurs and get investors in the room. Learning from people who have been there and done it really helps.
What's a Taste Makers Meetup like?:
- Always in a nice, relaxed environment (we try to share the love with venues throughout the city centre)
- You can share what you're doing (if you want)
- Swap stories, learn from each other...make plans to connect outside the meetup
- Find supporters, people who can help and new friends
When:
Usually the 1st Monday of every month from 6.30pm
Where:
We move about but each venue will be planned a month in advance
Free to attend. Please book a ticket so we know how many to expect.
Get yourself a drink, find a group to join and get talking. Bring friends. The more the merrier.
We are building and strengthening Sheffield's food and drink community one step at a time.
Frequently asked questions
This is for anyone producing or wanting to produce food and drink products whether for wholesale, shops/cafes etc or direct to the public....as well as for the wholesalers, the shop owners and the public who want to start something.
Not at all. If you are happy to commute, you can come from anywhere.
Yes. You can buy drinks at the venue. Depending on the venue yopu can buy food or join others after the event for a bite to eat somewhere else.
That depends on the venue. Although many attendees go together after the event to get something at a close by restaurant.
No. Just turn up ready to chat. If you do want to pitch your idea, problem or business in front of the group feel free to come prepared with a short, informal pitch.
Absolutely. We welcome everyone.
It's very informal. We meet, have a drink and chat. We do try and get people to mix and talk, and have some pre-prepared questions to help this along if people want to discuss a particular topic..
You can if you wish. There is no requirement to do this and it would be at your own decision and cost. We do love them though :)
Not normally. But sometimes we may have someone offer short, practical or supportive talks based on their experiences.
No. Stay as long or as short as you like.
Not a problem. Keep an eye out for the next one.
It's organised by Ed, who through previous attempted businesses felt there was a need to get producers and retailers in the room to start, grow and strengthen a community for the wide variety of outstanding producers and retailers in and around Sheffield
No. Come along if you have an idea, are interested or really thinking about taking the leap.
