Description

Join us at The Project Café for a multisensory, interactive cinema event combining samples of food ethically sourced from different countries in Africa with short films providing experimental snapshots of life from all over the continent, with a particular focus on landscape and space and how people engage with them.

Films include:

HAIRAT

Jessica Beshir | Ethiopia 2016 | 7m | Harari with English subtitles | 15

Set in the walled city of Harar in Ethiopia, Hairat tells the story of one of Yussuf Mume Saleh, who for 35 years has travelled to the outskirts of the city to feed the hyenas that have co-existed with humans there for 500 years.


DREXCIYA

Akosua Adoma Uwusu | Ghana 2011 | 12m | 15

Inspired by afro-futurist myths propagated by Detroit electronic duo Drexciya, this surreal short is a portrait of an abandoned public swimming pool in Ghana.
