About this event

  • 2 hours 30 minutes

This unique event is to mark the launch of The Migration Menu, an exciting new podcast series that explores journeys from South Asia to West London, through food.

In the series, Prof James Staples and Dr Luke Heslop, anthropologists from Brunel University London, talk to restaurateurs and others in this part of London about what food from their homeland means to them and why. They explore the rich array of culinary traditions that have made their way from South Asia and been made anew in West London, using food as an entry point to wider discussions about migration, globalisation, entrepreneurship, and cultural heritage.

The launch will be marked with a live listening of a 15-minute trailer for the 10-part series, a Q&A about the project, a drinks reception, and food from some of the fantastic eateries featured in the series. The hosts of the series, as well as the restaurateurs they are working with, will also be on hand to answer questions and to engage with the local audience about the research they would like to see carried out in their neighbourhoods.

Brunel HIVE: Brunel’s business growth and engagement representatives will also be on hand to speak to businesses in the networking event following the Q&A.
