Tate Year 3 Project: Steve Moffitt in conversation with Darren Chetty, discussing the experience of BAME children in primary school

About this Event

Tate Year 3 Project Teacher Development Events 2019

Across the year, through learning resources, photography sessions and workshops, the Tate Year 3 Project has provided rich opportunities for London’s primary schools to explore creativity in the classroom and the themes at the heart of the work - inclusion, identity and belonging.

The project now invites you to book for two free twilight teacher development events at Tate Britain this term. Both events offer inspirational insight to fuel practice in the classroom and are a great opportunity to meet others and experience exclusive access to the gallery.

In Conversation: ‘Where I’m Coming From’ – Inclusion and Identity 8th July 5.30pm – 8pm

Join acclaimed writer, teacher and researcher Darren Chetty in conversation with Steve Moffitt, CEO at A New Direction, for this talk and Q&A focussed on the experience of BAME children in primary school.

Contributor to the best-selling book The Good Immigrant, Darren has published work on education, racism, children’s literature and hip-hop culture with nearly 20 years of experience in primary education. He teaches on the BA Education Studies course at UCL Institute of Education and offers powerful insight for immediate practice back in the classroom.

Light refreshments and private view access to the gallery collection are included as part of this event.

Please note: places are limited to 2 per school.
