About this event

The locations for the TTA dig days, including the Take Care of your Trails Days are below.

Who are the TTA?

The Tayside Trail Association is a non-profit organisation run fully by volunteers and funded by donations and fund raising.

The TTA was originally established by a core collective of riders from the mountain bike community, but the fundamental interest is to improve the safety and condition of trails; which also includes multi-use core paths used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders!

We work in partnership with land managers to form agreements and carry out trail improvements through volunteer 'Dig Days'. The days have full landowner approval, with the correct insurance, risk assessments and prior/post paperwork all in place. Which means it is your chance to wield a spade legally!

The association incorporates four 'Trail Crews' to cover the large geographic region of Tayside:

* Pitmedden Trail Crew

* Kinnoull & Deuchny Trail Crew

* Dunkeld and Birnam Trail Crew

* Ballo Trail Association

Can't make a dig day but want to help out?

Why help out?

Well if you are a biker, then you should already know, but essentially it is the best way to 'give something back' for all the times you have ridden and raced at these spots for free. A lot of hard work (like these dig days) goes into making the trails sustainable and super enjoyable all year round. It's not always possible with recent issues, weather and man power, but we are working on it. And getting more people involved, helps to grow the scene, and increase our pool of ready and willing volunteers for the next time!

What should I bring?

If you have any of the following tools, please bring them with you, and we can select the most appropriate selection based on the work plan for the day:

Hoe

Mattock

Spade

Rake

Plastic flexi rubble bucket

Hand Saws/Loppers

Gloves ESSENTIAL

Eye protection (glasses would be best)

Hi viz

Also if you are first aid trained please let us know. (We have enough but it is nice to know)

Exact location of the day will be the sent to those that sign up. (It is the easiest way to get the info out, whilst keeping the list of dates together under one event).

If you haven't signed up, please do not turn up hoping to tag a long. Our insurance and work plan for the day is based on certain numbers.

Sessions run 9.30 - 3.30.

Please bring appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear.

Please also bring water and lunch, but if we keep nagging the local cafes and eateries, we might get lucky with a pastry or two.
