Event description

Description

Everyone with an interest in local wildlife is very welcome to join us at our 13th Tayside Recorders' Day on Saturday, 21st March. This year we will be back at Perth Museum & Art Gallery which is a bit roomier and good for networking and catching up with fellow recorders. There is plenty of parking nearby (try the multi-storey car park off Kinnoull Street) and places to buy a snack lunch.

As ever, there is a varied programme. This year, amongst others, we will hear updates from Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels, Butterfly Conservation Scotland and the Bumblebee Conservation Trust. We will also hear presentations from Scottish Forestry on Ash Dieback and how we can keep a look out for tree diseases, the ongoing progress of the Scottish Invasive Species Initiative and the work behind verifying new and existing Local Nature Conservation Sites across Tayside. And of course there will be displays to look at during the breaks.

Anyone who would like a 10 minute slot to update us on any local "citizen science" surveys is asked to contact Catherine as soon as possible (caglloyd@pkc.gov.uk). These slots are always popular as quick updates on what is happening locally and how we can all contribute.

Whether you are a seasoned wildlife recorder or someone who just wants to find out more about our local wildlife, this event is for you. Please book as soon as possible - and check the "What's On" section of www.taysidebiodiversity from February onwards for the full finalised programme.

If you are new to the museum, there is a lot to explore in the natural heritage section (during the lunch break perhaps?): more information can be downloaded from here - https://www.culturepk.org.uk/museums-galleries/collections/museums-collections/natural-history/
