About this event

T:BUC Engagement Forum

"Social Media and its impact on Good Relations"

The next Together: Building a United Community (T:BUC)Engagement Forum will be taking place on Tuesday 16th June at the Silver Birch Hotel Omagh at 9.30am.

The Together: Building a United Community (T:BUC) Strategy, launched in 2013, reflects the Executive’s commitment to building a united society. Since then, significant progress has been made – a number of the headline actions set out in the Strategy have been fully achieved, with significant progress made across others.

However, it is recognised that there is more to do and there is a need to ensure that the T:BUC Strategy continues to reflect the current needs of our society and work for all in the community.

This Engagement Forum will provide us with the opportunity to look at the impact social media plays on the delivery of good relations, both in all its positive ways and conversely the negative impacts too.

The Executive Office would like to engage with stakeholders and are keen to ensure that all interested parties have an opportunity to explore this issue. The Engagement Forum will involve input from officials from the statutory sector, Dr Paul Reilly from Glasgow University, currently researching the theme, Dr Orna Young , CEO of Factchecker NI and the voluntary community sector organisation Springboard Opportunities, who utilise social media on a daily basis to promote their work. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in table discussions and poise questions to our panel of speakers.

Please feel free to register your interest.
