TCCE’s 'Walking the City 2016' Call for Ideas Event

TCCE is delighted to announce that our third annual ‘Walking the City’ walking weekend will be taking place between 15 - 17 April 2016 and we would like to encourage any of our researchers who might wish to develop a walk as part of this year’s weekend to join us to hear more at a brief information and call for ideas event.

Walking the City has featured a brilliant and eclectic range of walks in London led by academics and researchers from across the TCCE partnership institutions with walks taking place across the city in areas including: King’s Cross, St James’s, Harrow, Stratford, Bloomsbury and Whitechapel. Previous themes have included: London Clubs in literary fiction, Buildings and Typography, Gentrification, Sensory Walking, Walking with Books, and Migrant Lives in the East End.

The purpose of the event will be primarily to provide an opportunity to hear from some of those who led on walks during last year’s Walking The City including Dr Nadia Valman (QMUL) and Professor Jeremy Strong (UWL).

The event will also to give you the chance to discuss with us ways in which you might wish to get involved with the initiative. We are happy to consider proposals on any topic and from any discipline that will either be of interest to a general audience in London and/or enable researchers a space in which to explore walking as a new methodology for research. In the case of the latter, we are particularly interested in walking as part of practice-based research.
