Understanding Charity Governance
This course is aimed at new and experienced charity trustees, charity secretarial and compliance staff and others looking for an introduction to governance in the sector.
This course provides a one-day introduction to the principles and practice of good governance in charities and offers practical guidance on compliance and best practice.
It explores key governance processes and regulation, and examines in detail the Good Governance Code for the Voluntary and Community Sectors.
Following the course participants will have an understanding of the role of the Board, and of governance processes within their organisation and will be in a position to examine their own organisation’s governance arrangements and consider how they might be improved.
The day will cover the following:
- What is good governance in charities and why is it important?
- Roles and relationships in governance - trustees, members and staff
- Duties of trustees
- Governance and management
- The essentials of good governance practice.
This one day workshop is held at the Clare Charity Centre, Wycombe Road, Saunderton, Buckinghamshire. The workshop will start at 10am and run through to 4pm with breaks for tea/coffee and lunch.
