Tea Ceremony & Gong Bath - Baker Street
Event Information
About this event
Sitting on the cushions on the floor we appreciate special grade oolong tea in a mindful and ritualistic manner inspired by Dao and Zen.
Highest grade loose leaf tea, brewed and tasted in a special set and setting, offer unforgettable sensory experience with a profound feeling of peace and stillness.
We drink tea slowly and mindfully to explore the senses of smell, taste, touch, to be present to all the sounds, to all we see, feel and sense; and through the following our senses we stop the chatter of a busy mind, we stop thinking about future or past, we experience and live the actual moment being 'here' and 'now', finding beauty and subtlety in simple things.
After the tea meditation we lie down on mats on the floor to experience the sound of gongs and singing bowls. These instruments create interesting sensations felt on the body and induce a meditative and mysterious state of consciousness, an impression of being bathed in the ocean or floating in a cosmic space, sometimes an out-of-body experience, and often accompanied by rich imagery dreams.
The experience is unique and different to each individual. Occasionally unpleasant emotions can flow up to the surface as a part of a healing process, but in most cases the overall experience is blissful, ecstatic and deeply relaxing. At the end each individual receives a distant hand chi/qi energy healing.
The event takes place on Friday evenings in Lantern Room, Rudolf Steiner House (Baker Str. Station).
Mats and blankets will be provided, however you can bring your own for extra comfort.
Spaces limited to 8 people only.
