Nicholas Romeril is one of the eight artists featured in the Polar Museum's Painting the Poles temporary exhibition.

In this visual presentation of his journey from the UK to the Antarctica and then back to the studio, Nicholas will show photographs and describe how he felt, what he was trying to achieve and the process he used to create artwork from his 2018 residency. He'll also have some of his sketchbooks on display to view and discuss.

Is there a cost to attend?

We are proud to offer this as a free event and we would never want cost to be a barrier to you attending. If you have the capacity, we would greatly appreciate a suggested donation to the museum of £5 per person to help these events continue.

I'm not an academic, can I still attend?

Yes! This event is designed for a non-academic audience but still prioritises the chance to learn something new or dive deeper into an interesting subject area. Feel free to bring a notepad and pen or just an open mind.

How long will the talk last?

Refreshments will be available in the Lecture Theatre from 2:00pm and the talk will begin at 2:30pm. The talk will last around 30-40 minutes followed by time for questions and conversation. We will wrap up by 3:30pm. We hope you'll also visit the Polar Museum, which is open from 10am - 4pm.

Do you have parking facilities?

Unfortunately we cannot offer parking facilities, however please do get in touch regarding any access requirements.

Will you have refreshments?

We will have hot drinks and biscuits for you to enjoy. Please get in touch if you have specific dietary needs.
