Find out about teaching English in China and open up your horizons.
Come along and find out about working in China and how the application process works. Our Programme Director Lauren Pettit worked in China herself on our programme and will speak from personal experience.
Why work in China?
Living like a local gives you the chance to really see the country and make a home on the other side of the world. It opens you up to a new culture like no other.
What are the application requirements?
Previous teaching experience is not a requirement for any of our placements, although public speaking or volunteering work in the past certainly puts you at an advantage.
What about salaries, accommodation and hours?
Long-term programme You will work between 16-20 hours per week. The salary is anywhere between £540-£1440 per month and free accommodation.
You will receive free accommodation and £140 pocket money per month. You will work 5 or 6 days per week, for about 5 hours per day.
Will there be opportunities to travel?
The teaching schedule leaves plenty of time to explore. Most of our teachers travel around China as well as other neighbouring countries such as Thailand, Vietnam or Cambodia.
Attending this event will count towards the Plymouth Award (1 hour in the Working Life category).
Please note that this session is only open to current Plymouth University students & recent graduates (<3 years).
