Teach Text-Based Programming for GCSE
Tuesday 10th May 2016 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Venue: London CLC, Rectory Grove, London SW4 0EL
Host: Alan O'Donohoe
Aims: This event is designed to support the teaching of text-based programming in school, at Key Stage 3 and/or GCSE Computing. It is expected that those attending will already have some experience of text-based programming, for example, from attending the session earlier in the day (1.30-3.30pm) or from attending a previous course. Teachers with prior experience of teaching text-based programming should still gain from attending.
The event will follow a project-based approach where attendees will work in small groups to develop a coded solution to a GCSE Computing controlled assignment in a similar style to the event described here: http://exa.im/codingdojo It is hoped that those attending will observe and experience teaching strategies that they can use in their own setting. This twilight event will follow a similar style to the afternoon event, but will be pitched at a higher level so that some may benefit from attending both sessions.
