Overview
Music Composition Workshop with the BBC
Teacher CPD - Bridging the Gap: Teaching Music Composition from KS2 to KS3
A collaboration between BBC Young Composer, East Ed and Waltham Forest Music Service.
Target Audience: Aimed at KS2 and KS3 teachers.
Join us for a CPD session designed to support non-specialist and specialist teachers in developing clear, practical strategies for teaching composition across KS2 and KS3.
Using the Model Music Curriculum and BBC music education resources, we’ll explore structured pathways and practical tools to facilitate composition that will help pupils progress confidently and creatively.
You’ll leave with adaptable ideas and ready-to-use resources; finding starting points into composition and exploring ways to refine their musical ideas.
This interactive workshop will give teachers practical ideas to develop composition and support the transition of KS2 to KS3.

East Ed is a cross-organisational effort between the world-leading East Bank partners: BBC, UCL, UAL's London College of Fashion, V&A and Sadler's Wells.
The programme also features collaborations from other incredible local partners.
Together, we link local young people and educators to the exciting institutions, universities, and sectors unique to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, offering access to programmes exploring creative, digital, design, and careers.
We aim to provide educators with professional development opportunities as well as provide a space for wider discussions around careers, well-being, and work culture.
