Event description

Description

The Centre for International Teacher Education (CITE) an initiative of The South African Research Chair in teacher Education based at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) celebrates five years of ground breaking research into issues confronting quality and equity in teacher education.

Join us for our End of Phase One Colloquium where the research team and leading national and international scholars and policy-makers and practitioners will present insights and engage in debate on the meaning of our work for the future of quality teacher education in the global South.

The colloquium will offer a range of international and national speakers providing perspetives on the global and regional context in which teachers work, and will reflect on what makes for good teachers in sessions with a focus on the policy environment, upon aspects of teacher professional development, and upon teacher working conditions.

Before our End of Phase One Colloquium at the beginning of 2019 in March (precise date TBC), an earlier pre-colloquium event 'Pathways to Practice: Dialogue and Development' will be held on 20th October 2018 at the Tshisimani Centre For Activist Education (http://tshisimani.org.za). This will be a seperate workshop with teachers and education practitioners which will be designed for participants to share their insights into research and practice together.
