Teacher Recruitment and Retention Strategy: Summer Term Events

Event Information

Event description

What do you think needs to be done to improve teacher recruitment and retention?

The Department for Education is holding events across the country this term. We want to share with you some of the things we’ve learnt, learn from you what’s worked and what hasn’t, and hear what you think about ideas for going forward.

We want to find out more about:

  • the recruitment and retention challenges you have experienced
  • what your school and/or Trust is doing to tackle some of these issues
  • the things that you know work
  • your ideas for other solutions we should consider

We are holding 13 events this July with more planned for the Autumn Term. You can sign up for July’s events here.

The events will include workshops and discussions where you can provide direct input to Department policy development.

This is all part of the work we are doing to develop a teacher recruitment and retention strategy. The strategy will set out the next steps the Department and others need to take to improve teacher recruitment and retention and ensure that teaching is an attractive profession. The strategy will cover areas like workload, professional development, career progression, flexible working and entry routes into teaching. These events are an opportunity to ensure that all the different people and organisations that have a role to play in teacher recruitment and retention can work together to develop the strategy.
