Teacher Training for Fusion 360
Event Information
About this Event
The goal of the training
Fusion 360 is a powerful CAD/CAM system provided by AutoDesk. It can be described as a ‘one-stop shop’ where users can create 3D CAD models with ease and then progress it through various functions such as Rendering, Manufacture and Technical Drawings.
This training event is built on delivering a contextualized learning day that focuses on how Fusion 360 can be utilized by teachers for the betterment of their students and their design work. Fusion 360 is an industry recognized system that, should your students be successful in attaining, would be a huge asset to their portfolio. The course content will focus on an example project that could be delivered to Key Stages 4 or 5, and throughout the day, attendees will get hands-on experience in the many different functions of Fusion 360.
Timings for the Day
08:30 – 09:00 – Arrival and refreshments
Complimentary refreshments will be available. An opportunity for you to meet and greet the trainer and fellow attendees.
09:00 – 10:30 – Training Part 1
The first part of the day will look at the standard design functions of Fusion 360 and overall navigation tools. The learning will be contextualized around an example Key Stage 4/5 project, whereby you will design a complex part that is assembled from separate components. If you are attending the event, please bring your mobile phone for the design activity.
10:30 – 10:50 – Break
Hot and cold drinks can be purchased from the on-site Costa area.
10:50 - 12:20 – Training Part 2
This part of the day will look at how this design can be rendered to create photo-realistic images of the completed design from the previous activity. You will also be trained in how Fusion 360 can create detailed technical drawings of this design.
12:20 – 13:00 – Lunch
A buffet lunch will be provided.
13:00 – 14:30 – Training Part 3
In this session, you will experience how Fusion 360 can output this design for physical manufacturing e.g. laser cut .dxf files, additive filament printing and milling operations.
14:30 – 14:50 – Break
14:50 – 16:00 – Training Part 4
All attendees are encouraged to bring examples of their current schemes of work and/or projects. The goal for this part of the day is to look at what you currently provide for your students and see how Fusion 360 can be embedded for the benefit of their design work.
16:00 – End of Training Day
You will be given a resource pack that contains some classroom activities for Fusion 360, i.e. video tutorials and worksheets to help progress your student's learning journey.
