Teachers' Private View Karla Black and Kishio Suga: A New Order
Join the curator for a tour of the exhibition and share ideas over tea / coffee and cake.
All nursery, primary and secondary teachers welcome.
This exhibition brings together two artists: Karla Black, a Scottish female artist working in Glasgow, and Kishio Suga, a Japanese male artist now aged 71, working in Japan.
What unites them, is their practice of using everyday materials to create works of sublime beauty, intrigue, and complexity, made in response to specific spaces.
Their sculptures often seem to hover on the border between existence and collapse, but both artists, in their very different ways, explore the capabilities of materials, the ways in which we gain an understanding of the world through physical experience, and push at the limits of what sculpture can be.
