We are delighted to invite you and your colleagues to a unique Careers Hive CPD Event on the theme ‘This is Engineering’ linked to raising aspirations in STEM learning to celebrate the Year of Engineering.

From Monday 26th February-Friday 2nd March over 3,000 pupils from 46 schools will engage in a series of workshops, discussions and activities with over 100 Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths volunteers from a variety of industries and organisations.

This year all secondary and primary managers, teachers, technicians and assistants have the opportunity to attend this new CPD in the National Museum of Scotland in Chambers Street.


The event includes:

  • After a short introduction in the Auditorium, we will introduce you our panel of keen engineers from a broad spectrum of industries.
  • This is a great opportunities to listen, question and learn more about the fascinating world of the engineer.You will then be able to network with STEM professionals in the stunning Grand Gallery, discovering the vast range of potential careers our future workforce could pursue!
  • Enjoy refreshing your knowledge of STEM possibilities whilst building relationships with local, national and international companies.
  • Take some time out to wander around the new STEM galleries and soak up some of the enthusiasm and excitement surrounding STEM!

About Careers Hive

Launched in February 2016, Careers Hive is an immersive careers education event designed to give students in S1-S3 a new way to think about their futures. It highlights the opportunities available to those who study STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths), as well as the cross-disciplinary skills and subjects that can support and enhance STEM careers. Activities within the Grand Gallery are also open to the general public, further increasing the project’s reach.
