Teaching A Level Computer Science - Programming in Python (6 week course)

Hosted by CAS North West - Manchester (University of Manchester)

A 6 week course to equip teachers with the necessary level of knowledge required to use Python as their programming language.

The course will run each week from approximately 4pm until 6pm on Tuesdays (except for Wednesday 17/05/2017) at Cheadle Hulme High School in the Sixth Form Centre.

The course will cover most of the aspects of programming that teacher's of A Level Computer Science need to know in order to deliver the new specification. The weekly breakdown of topics will be published in due course, but will include material on functions, recursion, searching and sorting algorithms implemented in Python, common data structures and OOP.

Master Teachers are playing an important role in training teachers through CPD opportunities and acting as a focus for developing computing in schools. Part of the role of the CRC is to support Master Teachers in these activities, but also to work alongside Master Teachers to provide a co-ordinated network of support for schools.
