Description

Teaching and Learning Conference 2019 – Exploring the Heart of Teaching

The Grammar School at Leeds is delighted to be hosting the Teaching and Learning Leeds Conference, now in its fourth year, on Saturday 22 June 2019. This year’s conference ‘Exploring the Heart of Teaching’ will help all delegates recall their own personal reasons that inspired them to teach whether they are in their first or fortieth year in the profession and provide practical ways to help every teacher teach from both the ‘heart’ and the mind.

We are delighted to welcome two inspiring keynote speakers, Rev Kate Bottley and Craig Barton to open and close our conference.

Rev. Kate Bottley is broadcaster, Church of England priest and former teacher. She is well-known for appearing on Channel 4’s Gogglebox, as well as hosting Good Morning Sunday on BBC Radio 2 and appearing on BBC1’s Songs of Praise.” Her talk Heart and Soul - Rediscovering the Passion will set the tone for our conference.

To perfectly complement Kate's talk, our closing keynote, Memory and Desirable Difficulties by Craig Barton will be focusing on the mind. He will help us understand the working of long-term memory and how that understanding can change the way we teach. Craig is a maths teacher, a Secondary Maths Adviser to TES, host of the Mr Barton Maths Podcast and the author of the best-selling book, How I wish I'd taught maths.

Teachers of EYFS, primary and secondary stages are all welcome at TLLeeds19. This year sees an increase in the number of EYFS and primary specific workshops and a wide range of subject-specific workshops for secondary colleagues.

Choosing workshops

In addition to the two keynote talks, delegates will be able to choose FOUR workshops across a range of categories including leadership, teaching and learning, primary, EYFS, teaching the individual and numeracy and literacy. We will contact all delegates who have booked a few weeks before the conference to choose their three workshops.

Admission is £25 which includes lunch.
