Teaching Assistants Development Programme
The course will support the recommendations from the EEF report about increasing the effectiveness of TAs within school. During the six sessions we will look into how children learn, delving into the theory behind this and how we can support pupils to develop a growth mindset.
We will cover questioning skills, plotting where our skills with questioning currently are and how we can extend these further as well as being able to assess exactly where pupils are with their level of independence and moving them on from this point.
We will learn how to break tasks down into mini goals and explore a range of resources to ensure effective liaison and feedback with class teachers. Time will be spent on looking at interventions that we run in school and how to make sure that these have good impact.
We will also explore the recently published TA standards and to look at areas that we would personally like to develop further, planning how we are going to achieve this.
There will be gap tasks for attendees to complete between sessions to allow them to practice some of the practical strategies that we cover and be able to reflect on these.
The course will completely complement the course that we have run this year for senior leaders
