The 13th TLAD Workshop is taking place at the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment, Birmingham City University.

The Workshop will concentrate on novel teaching and assessment approaches for database related modules, as well as covering other issues related to the; teaching, learning and assessment of databases 

PROGRAMME

9:30-10:00 Registration

10:00-11:00 Keynote: The Contribution made by Database Modules to the Computing Curriculum. Mike Jackson (Birmingham City University)

11:00-11:30 Better with Data: A case study in sourcing Linked Data into a Business Intelligence analysis. Matthew Love, Charles Boisvert, Ain Chowdhury (Sheffield Hallam University)

11:30-12:00 Comparative Study of APEX and SQLPlus. Jagdev Bhogal (Birmingham City University)

12:00-13:00 Lunch

13:00-13:30 Experiences Implementing SQL Design Patterns in a First Year Computing Science Degree Database Course. Craig Macdonald, Karen Renaud (University of Glasgow) 

13:30-14:00 The implications of Plagiarism and Contract Cheating for the Assessment of Database modules. Thomas Lancaster, Robert Clarke (Birmingham City University)

14:00-15:00 Practical Session: Working with Horton Sandbox (Clare Stanier Staffordshire University) and neo4j (Petra Leimich Abertay University)

15:00-15:45 Extended Discussion (with coffee/tea) - discussion of topics raised, future plans for TLAD and wrap-up
