Teaching ‘Nature Skills’ (Certified)

This course is the second part of the Nature Skills training programme and is only suitable for those who have completed the Introduction to Nature Skills course.

Join Field Studies Ireland for a fully outdoor and very practical workshop designed for educators who want to use nature-based, sensory and practical activities in their work. This course introduces the core principles of risk, play and exploration as powerful tools for meaningful learning and engagement in natural environments, for benefits of education, wellbeing and development.

We will help you to teach fire lighting, shelter building, cutting tools and outdoor cooking, as well as how to create a range of playscapes such as rope swings, ladders and climbing structures. We will learn how to design and manage these experiences safely and creatively for others, supporting learner confidence, curiosity and connection to place.

It is ideal for teachers, forest school leaders, youth workers, parents and others who wish to embed outdoor learning into their practice. Participants will receive certification following completion of both elements (Introduction and Teaching) of this Nature Skills training programme.

Expect a full day in the woods, 100% outdoors. Learning is grounded in hands-on activities, place-based education, and experiential learning.
