Description

Are you a musician who teaches, or wants to get into freelance teaching? Do you need more students or are you already finding it hard to combine your teaching with your other musical activities?

Whether you teach full-time, part-time or are just starting out, Teaching on Your Terms will help you gain clarity and learn to control over this aspect of your career. Topics covered include:

  • How to find more students
  • How to find the right type of students
  • How to stand out from the crowd
  • How to teach what you want to teach, when you want to teach it
  • Private vs Peripatetic teaching?
  • Do you need premises?
  • How to minimise cancellations and maximise your income
  • How the MU can help music teachers

Musicians’ Union Regional Officer Barry Dallman has been teaching music for 15 years and ran a successful teaching practice for over 6 years before working for the MU. In this practical and interactive workshop, he’ll help you develop a clear strategy and create an action plan that will allow you to build and control your teaching practice so it suits you.

If you have any questions or any specific access requirements, please contact the North of England Regional Office on 0161 236 1764 or email manchester@theMU.org
