About the course

This CPD session is designed to support secondary English teachers who are teaching the sonnet. The session will focus on building subject knowledge about poetry focusing particularly on the sonnet form and how it has developed through time, drawing on a range of examples of sonnets and literary criticism. In addition, we will explore a range of knowledge-thorough strategies for teaching the sonnet to pupils throughout secondary school. This will include a sample scheme of work, resources and extra practice materials to support your pupils.
