Event description

Description

Following the successful conference last year this conference is being repeated at the request of schools.

This event is being led by Maria Moyles who is an experienced Advanced Skills Teacher with a proven track record of improving standards of education both within her own classroom as a current practitioner as well as in the classrooms of others through her provision of effective CPD, leadership support and coaching. Maria specialises in providing astutely judged CPD for individuals and schools and developing others through motivational, inspirational and practical support that enables others to develop their pedagogy and make sustained improvements to daily working practices.

Overview:

This course is suitable for Senior Leaders, Middle Leaders and classroom teachers and will focus on unpicking the needs of more able students across the curriculum; considering what characterises a more able student and exploring proven methods of engaging and challenging these learners in our classrooms.

Academic theory and extensive research are the foundations of the course but delegates should expect a hands-on practical approach to exploring methods and strategies.

Time will be spent discussing and trialling the proven strategies as well as planning and sharing how these can be immediately taken back to your schools and implemented in the classroom.

During the training delegates will be exposed to and provided with a full range of strategies and resources that can be instantly deployed in the classroom to raise the standards, expectation and achievement for the more able students and, indeed, all students; to raise the standards at the top is to raise the standards for all.

Objectives:

  • To investigate practical, manageable and effective strategies designed to stretch and challenge higher ability pupils
  • To explore how to establish an ethos and culture of academia for all within classrooms and across the whole school
  • To support staff in embedding this culture and practice into routine working practices
  • To consider how to evaluate current provision for the more able and implement good practice to improve the effectiveness
  • To share and exchange good practice
