Teaching / training neurodivergent students in the library webinar
Overview
This webinar (Monday 23rd March, 2:00pm-4:00pm) is aimed at library staff who wish to know more about some common needs of low support needs neurodivergent (ND) people in library teaching sessions in order to support them more effectively.
The webinar will be recorded and those recordings made available to anyone booking a ticket to attend (to view themselves, not to share with others).
We will include elements such as:
What is ND, a little about common neurodivergencies (Autism, ADHD, etc), common struggles and support needs for neurodivergent people in teaching sessions, designing in accessibility (rather than adjusting later), and how we might support neurodivergent students more effectively. It will have a small amount of interactivity built into the workshop, the nature of which will be adjusted to suit the number of people booking.
We will also focus on "low support needs" neurodivergent library users, rather than those with more complex co-morbities and learning difficulties, which we couldn't do justice to in a short webinar.
It's suitable for people working in any library sector where you might deal with groups of students, including HE, FE, Health, Law and Commercial settings.
This webinar is a variation of a workshop I've run for individual institutions and if you have a large number of people wanting to attend it might be worth booking me seperately to run something slightly more custom for your library service including more practical examples aimed at your institution. We do, however, include the option to book a larger number of staff from one institution at a reduced rate to this one - the bookings close for this option slightly earlier so I can make sure that there is time to circulate a link to everyone for access.
I also run more in depth and interactive in-person workshops, please get in touch if you'd like this option.
I'm neurodivergent myself and this webinar will include elements of my lived experience.
