Some children may find the acquisition of a sight vocabulary easier than reading using phonics-based approaches. This session will look at strategies to help children learn to read using functional sight-word based approaches. Building personal connections with words that are interest-based and meaningful helps make reading fun and motivating.
Suitable for staff supporting children and young people with Down’s Syndrome and Learning Disabilities in Primary settings.
