What is a TeachMeet? A fun, informal event for sharing great ideas for teaching and learning with opportunities to meet other educators. The purpose is to enable teachers to share good practice, practical innovations and personal insights in teaching. Read more about TeachMeets here: [What is a TeachMeet?]
What should I expect? Entertainment, refreshments on arrival and lots of interesting ideas for Teaching & Learning that you could be using in your classroom the very next day. This is not a sales event, so no sales presentations please.
What do I need to bring? You're welcome to bring an idea you'd like to share or just a willingness to try a fresh idea. Please consider bringing along an idea or a resource you've used recently for the SpeedMeet session it doesn't matter if you're not too proud of it, another teacher might be really interested in it.
Do I really need to present? Although TeachMeets thrive when lots of teachers offer to present, nobody will be forced to present. However, we would ask you to please consider presenting. You don't need to be an expert on something to present an idea; you might share something you've observed, heard, read about or something you've tried in your own classroom. You can present for up to 5 minutes. Some presenters choose to use slides, but it's not a requirement. It's not the place for a commercial organisation to promote their products or services.
What's a SpeedMeet? It's like TeachMeet presenting in a speed dating format, so there's no stress of standing up and speaking to a large audience, you'll just talk to 2 or 3 teachers at a time. We'll have some furniture set up with opportunities for you to show off some teaching resources or share some strategies you've used to a small group of teachers and educators for just 3 minutes.
What's TeachEat? After the event, you have the option of joining a group of us as we head over to Wetherspoons at Centenary Square / City Park for those who would like to socialise and share a meal together. We've chosen Wetherspoons as we don't need to reserve a table, you pay as you order, so no awkward bill-splitting afterwards.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Limited free parking for delegates is available at the Exa Education offices on the corner of Priestley Street and Bolton Road. There is a council run Pay & Display car-park opposite, cost £3. We're just a few minutes walk from both of Bradford's railway stations, Forster Square and Bradford Interchange
