Teatime taster: the old Manor Kitchens
Online talk: 6pm, Thursday 25 March
Join Assistant Curator, Michael Shrive, for a live online talk exploring the history of Waddesdon’s kitchens – from royal cuisine to cream teas.
When building Waddesdon Manor between 1877 and 1883, Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild wanted to ensure his new home provided every comfort and convenience for his fashionable weekend guests. Waddesdon quickly developed a reputation for serving the finest food, all prepared in the Manor kitchens.
In this live online talk, stories of the staff who worked in the kitchens, the menus prepared for special guests, and the use of top-of-the-range technology will be explored, revealing the rich history of these spaces.
Michael will be happy to answer any questions you may have in a live Q&A at the end of the talk.
