Tech Talks with Dominic Murphy is the final event in this series which focuses on the people behind some of the most successful businesses in Tyneside.
Dom is from South Shields and is working with Harton Technology College and their students, while also re-writing course content for IT courses at Sunderland College. His work will make a difference to both the current and next generation studying and working in the tech industry.
Dom is a guy who just gets it. He gets IT, he gets technology, he gets data – and he gets how important and useful it can all be. He gets that skills are an issue in the North East, in the UK, and to an extent across the world, in the tech industry. And he is doing something about it.
Having gained a degree in Computer Science, graduating from the University of Sunderland back in 2000, Dom has worked for small companies and global organisations. His role? To understand how the right technology used in the right way would improve processes and create efficiencies.
Dom spent some time living a fast-paced lifestyle in London before moving back to his roots in the North East. Time now to set up his own company – in 2014 Geek Talent was born, and with it a new way to understand recruitment and career pathways.
Investing his own cash to kick start the company, Dom then successfully raised further investment enabling him to recruit the right skills and push forward with the development of unique products. Geek Talent, Career Hacker and Insights collectively support professionals, organisations and students to find the right skills to meet their goals.
Join Dom at One Trinity Green as he shares his story… a chat with the man behind the business, followed by pizza, beer and networking.
