Workshop 1 - Delivered by Manoj Ranaweera and Alexandra Morris 

It's easy to come up with an idea which solves a specific problem you identified. It's harder to validate and develop a product that your customers would fall in love with. The journey from idea to product launch can be full of surprises and may take 3x longer than your initial estimate.

Manoj has built tech products and companies since 2004 (ebdex - electronic invoicing and payments, edocr.com - lead generation through documents, UnifiedVU - Single customer View and now Deal Lite - Crunchbase for the UK). Alex has been a pivotal member of MakeUrMove from the early days and now leads the company. She was also instrumental in spinning out CreditLadder from MakeUrMove.

This workshop will focus on identifying and overcoming startup challenges to get technology products out of the door in record time. 

Workshop 2 - Delivered by Chris Vickers and Manoj Ranaweera

Delivered by Techcelerate Partner, SQK Accountancy, this workshop will focus on setting up of financial software, monitoring and managing the health of the company (management accounting) and quarterly and annual financial reporting. This workshop is ideal for early stage technology companies, both pre-revenue and as well as those with early-stage sales traction. 

Setting up

• Choosing financial software and setting it up properly (chart of accounts, conversion balance, year-end, etc).
• Setting up PAYE, pension contributions, etc.
• Personal allowances and managing company vs personal accounts

Monitoring of Health of the Company

• Monthly and quarterly reporting
• Tax digital and VAT filing

Reporting

• Submission of annual return
• Preparation of annual accounts
• Role of accountant
