Techniques for Community Engagement
Tue 21 March 2017, 18:30 – 21:00 GMT
This course will introduce participants to effective community engagement and a range of creative and techniques for bringing people together. This will be achieved by gathering their views and ideas, prioritising concerns and developing action plans. As the course is all about trying to get away from traditional methods, don’t expect to sit back and listen – be ready to participate in a range of community engagement techniques – including Community Mapping, Ketso, The Place Standard, Open Space techniques and World Café conversations.
Who is the Course Aimed at?
This course is suitable for staff, volunteers and community groups who want to develop skills for creative engagement with communities.
By the end of the session participants will have:
- an awareness of a number of alternatives to public meetings for finding out the views of their community
- become familiar with a range of techniques for engaging with communities
- had the opportunity to experience some of these techniques first hand
- be able to assess which technique would best suit the needs of their group or organisation
