Event description

Description

No longer a skills challenge, we are facing a skills "crisis".

For a whole variety of reasons the skills shortage in our industry is becoming more acute. Fundamentally, there are sitll too few young people studying Electronics and so the demand for capable, employable graduates far outstrips demand.

All the indications are that the recruitment of foreign Nationals into the UK is going to become more difficult and more expensive. Our feeling is that we are heading for a crisis that we need to action now. With our sister organisation, UKESF, we are actively pursuing a number of strategies to address this problem that range from influencing school children, supporting teacher CPD and developing Master-level apprenticenships that allow your Apprenticeship Levy payments to be channeled into training and development of your engineering team.

To engage you in this challenge, we invite you to complete the Skills Survey here and to attend our Skills Workshop in Birmingham on 11th July 2017.
