Event description

Description

Join us at Bowlees for a one-off event. The Geminids peak around December 12th-14th, and promise to give us the most spectacular meteor show of 2017, weather permitting.

At their absolute peak (early hours on December 14th), the forecast is for as many as 120 meteors per hour. It'll be a moonless night, and therefore nice and dark. The Milky Way should also be visible (again, depending on the weather).

Bowlees Visitor Centre is a designated Dark Sky Discovery Site. The entire site and building, including the waterfalls at Gibson's Cave and Low Force, will be available to you, for all kinds of night photography (and light painting).

This event will be limited to 16 photographers, to allow everyone to get a good view at each location.

In the event of a cloudy night being forecast, I'll do my best to offer additional equipment / activities, but of course, you don't need a clear sky for the majority of night photography.

In the case of extreme weather being forecast, such as heavy rain, snow, fog, or winds, you will be able to transfer to one of the following month's dark sky events, free of charge. I'll make an email announcement about this, either way, a couple of nights before the workshop.

Your booking is non-refundable if you're unable to come (but it may possible to transfer it to someone else, upon request).

This is going to be a standout event in my night photography programme. Hope you can make it!
