Da Camera Trio
Emma Murphy recorders
Susanna Pell viols
Steven Devine harpsichord
A real treat for devotees of Telemann's chamber music - he was and still is one of the most prolific composers in history and wrote dozens of trio sonatas for all sorts of combinations of instruments. This special 250th Anniversary programme will include Telemann’s original Trio Sonatas for recorder with treble viol, and recorder with bass viol.
Da Camera is an exciting and versatile ensemble, crossing the line between ‘early’, ‘folk’ and ‘contemporary’ music. Their programmes range in repertoire from the passamezzi of the 15th century, via traditional Celtic and English music, through the baroque, to newly-commissioned works. Three new works have been commissioned by them to date. All members of the recorder family feature alongside many different sizes of viol, with harpsichord or organ accompaniment. Look out for a new CD of Telemann’s original trio sonatas for recorder and treble viol, recorder and bass viol, as well as others arranged by them, ready for Telemann’s 250th anniversary year in 2017.
