About this event

The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) is seeking proposals, on behalf of the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). We are looking for suppliers to develop a complete telexistence system. This will involve the integration of telepresence, robotic and haptic technologies on to a single platform. We will invite successful suppliers to our laboratories to evaluate the capabilities of their systems against a series of tasks that are representative of a Use Case chosen by each supplier from the following: Specialist Nuclear Decommissioning Tasks, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), or Defence and Security Medical applications.

It is not compulsory to have been involved in the previous DASA competition to apply. You should however make yourself aware of the previous telexistence competition and the bids that were funded. We are supportive of collaboration between organisations for this competition. To facilitate this we have a short survey to collect details of those who wish to explore collaboration possibilities.

Join the competition team for an online webinar on Thursday 27 January 2022 to hear further detail on the problem space and have a chance to ask questions in an open forum.

1-to-1 Sessions

There will also be an opportunity to book a 1-to-1 on either Tuesday 1 or Thursday 3 February with the competition team to answer any specific technical queries you may have about the competition. You can register here for a 15 minute slot on 1 February and here for a 15 minute slot on 9 February.

Please note, these slots are booked on a first come, first serve basis. If demand is high, an alternative date may be added.

DASA welcomes collaborative bids and has created a short survey for additional information from potential collaborators. The information provided will be sent to the other respondents of the survey each Friday until 25 March 2022.
