About this Event

Today's Storyteller is Laura Riley

Mums In Need (MIN)

Story Title: How I became the Founder of MIN

Outline of Story: Mums In Need is a small local domestic abuse charitable organisation which supports mums who have left abusive relationships. We give them tools so that they can overcome their fears and find a way through intimidation and coercive control.

Biographical Details: I am a trained Mental Health Nurse with a huge amount of experience in dealing with people’s needs, no matter how complex they may be. Having been through this process myself and come out the other side, I know exactly what you’re going through and can help you through this intimidating and soul-destroying process.

How Your Story Supports Your Business: If you’re reading this you might feel isolated, scared and unsure where to turn.

Separating from an abusive partner can be incredibly daunting. There is the fear of going to court, the on-going battle that often results and the detrimental impact this can have on mothers and their children.

I identify with the women that come through as I understand and have been there.

Are you a coach, consultant or freelance, who wants to promote their business and take their practice to a new place?

Do you love stories and long to find your own stories that give voice to your business?

Great stories are true because they have integrity, they make a promise (that must be met), they are subtle and yet make a rapid first impression, they appeal to our senses and match a particular worldview.

So, finding stories that promote your business is not easy. But it can be easier if you share your search with a dynamic group of business-owners.

This self-help group listens and provides feedback for business stories and helps each other market their business through stories.

  • How to tell your story in a fresh and compelling way
  • How to use your story to market your business and become better known
  • How to adapt your story in new and innovative ways.

We do more than tell stories. We share ideas about how to tell stories so they are really effective. Each meeting, one business-owner shares their story and together we listen, take note and work out how the story can be improved. Everyone learns from this experience and improves their story telling. We cover a range of business applications and media for telling your stories.

I'm rebuilding the programme during the lockdown and so please contact me if you would like to tell your story at a future meeting.
