Today's Storyteller is Tristan Firth

Story Title: What’s (love) value got to do with it? (With apologies to Tina Turner)

We all start out in business with grand ideas for the future but when you’re running your own company, it’s all too easy to get wrapped up in the here and now; deadlines, cashflow, where the next customers are coming from etc. This is the sad tale of one such business where a lifetime of hard graft ended up being worthless.

Some years after the events in my story, I realised that the business in question was far from unique. Indeed, I’d hazard a guess, that the majority of SMEs we come across are all following the same path, even if they don’t know it. And that’s why I do what I do and expound the virtue of putting customers at the centre of the business model, creating value for them and a future for the stakeholders.

Tristan is a highly qualified executive, a coach and a consultant specialising in customer value and growing the worth of a business.

He has worked for a wide variety of organisations from start-ups to multi-nationals and across a range of sectors including property, health, construction and business intelligence. Throughout his career he has taken a considered, pragmatic approach to satisfying customer needs. His ability to view problems from the customers’ perspective and use of simple but highly effective tools has won him a reputation for delivering successful solutions and outstanding results.

Please register from this page. There is a fee of £5 cash on the door. On arrival, please order lunch at the bar and then join us upstairs.

Are you a coach, consultant or freelance, who wants to promote their business and take their practice to a new place?

Do you love stories and long to find your own story that gives voice to your business?

Great stories are true because they have integrity, they make a promise (that must be met), they are subtle and yet make a rapid first impression, they appeal to our senses and match a particular worldview.

So, finding a story that will promote your business is not easy. But it can be easier if you share your search with a dynamic group of business-owners.

This self-help group will listen to and provide feedback for business stories and help each other market their business through stories.

Join us at Holiday Inn Express on 2nd and 4th Thursdays to find out:

  • How to tell your story in a fresh and compelling way
  • How to use your story to market your business and become better known
  • How to adapt your story in new and innovative ways.

We do more than tell stories. We share ideas about how to tell stories so they are really effective. Each month, one member of the group shares their story and together we listen, take note and work out how the story can be improved. Everyone learns from this experience and improves their story telling. We cover a range of business applications and media for telling your stories.

A fee of £5 on the door covers my overheads, including the story-teller's lunch. Please be prepared to purchase lunch at Yates. Please inform me in advance if you require disabled access.
