Event description

Description

Liverpool Queer Collective brings you: Telling Tales, a free storytelling event for local LGBTQ+ people to share their experiences.

One thing that many LGBTQ+ people have in common is the moment that they told someone they were different and ‘came out’. Coming out is what sets us apart and brings us together and for many it represents a turning point in their lives; a crucial moment of freedom but also of acceptance or rejection.

This two hour long adult story telling event features stories told by local LGBTQ+ people on their experiences of coming out.

The event is free and refreshments will be provided; places are limited and booking is essential.

Join us to be touched and entertained by real stories told by Liverpool’s LGBTQ+ people.

We are currently looking for story telllers

Each story should be between five and ten minutes long on the theme of ‘I’m coming out!’ and if you want to get involved, you’ll need to pitch your story in 250 words.

Stories will be chosen and curated by Liverpool Queer Collective based on relevance, diversity, representation and heart. If selected you will be asked come and tell your story at our event on the afternoon of Sunday 29 July at the Museum of Liverpool.

How to submit your story

Anyone aged 16 or over can apply – you don’t have to be LGBTQ+ but your story must relate in some way to LGBTQ+ culture, issues and people and be based on the theme of 'I'm Coming Out!'

Please email your story in a 250 word synopsis to hello@liverpoolqueercollective.co.uk

Please include your name, date of birth, address, and email/telephone number.

The closing date Saturday 7 July 2018. We will inform you by the 11 July 2018 to let you know if your story has been successful and you will be invited to speak at the event on the afternoon of 29 July at the Museum of Liverpool.

Liverpool Queer Collective would like to thank the Museum of Liverpool for their kind support of this event.
