Event description

Description

WHAT IS IT?

Temple Days is a one day Holy Spirit Conference for children and their leaders, designed especially for those who want to get to know their Heavenly Father better.

FOR CHILDREN (in year 1 to 6): This day provides every child with the opportunity to experience God's presence, and to invest in their own faith and discover their Heavenly Father in new and exciting ways.

FOR LEADERS: This day creates a context for teens and adults to ‘learn as they serve’, where they get to see experienced kids workers and leaders minister and lead, whilst enjoying the experience alongside their small group of kids.

FOR ADULTS: This ticket is to enable adults who would like to experience the day along side our kids and team, but cannot commit to the team meetings on the Friday night or Saturday. You won't have any team responsibilities on the day, but like our team members you will be allocated a small group that is very likely to not contain children you know.

We really believe this is an exciting opportunity for the children in our area to meet God in new ways and encounter His Holy Spirit in a safe environment. We are excited to see what God does with the day we set aside for Him!

TICKETS:

Super Early Bird £9.50 (avaliable until 31st Dec 2019)

Early Bird £11 (avaiable until 15th Feb 2020)

Full Price £12.50 (booking closes 15th of March 2020)

Team tickets are FREE! (Team booking closes on 8th of March so we have time to get everyone's references sorted)

WHAT'S THE PLAN?

The event takes the recognisable format of a holiday club and incorporates into the day three Holy Spirit workshops, stage sessions with live worship, teaching, ministry and lots of fun!

The workshops (all spirit led) will be on:

  • Being creative: Prophetic Art - Beth Pritchard, The Lantern Church

  • Adventure Time With Jesus: Prayer - Sarah Cornthwaite, www.adventureswithjesus.co.uk

  • Prayer Ministry Training - Elle Bird, Temple Days

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY?

We want everything we do to be rooted in the bible. For our first Temple Days event (2018) we were inspired by the story of Samuel and the truth that we are designed to hear our Father's voice and encounter Him. Last year (2019) we looked at growing with God through a passage in Ezekiel 17 and the promise Jesus made in John 14 that we would do even greater things than him!

This year we feel called to focus on the cross. To humble ourselves at Jesus' feet and encounter him through his story of sacrifice, mercy, grace and rescue. We will be looking at Jesus' full rescue mission from Genises, where it all went wrong, to the cross, where it all went right.

John 3:16-17 'This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.' (Message Translation)

We want to help our children get to the point of letting Jesus build and shape them through a more intimate relationship with him. Where they live from a place of revalation, joy and deep connection to their saviour, Jesus.

Philippians 3:8-11 'Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith. I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!'

WHAT’S THE PLAN?

Temple Days is happening at St Chad's, Romiley and will start with registration at 9.30am before the first stage session at 10am. The children will work their way through the day in groups of 10 with at least two group leaders. There will be time for fun and games, as well as workshops and of course there will be time for lunch. (Children, team and adults will need to bring their own packed lunch!)

The day will finish at 3.30pm when the children will be ready to be collected from the church building.

LEARN AS YOU SERVE DETAILS

(for leaders, teens and "would-be" leaders!)

‘Learn as you serve’ is our vision for the leaders at Temple Days. Seminars and training days are great tools for leaders who want to get the most out of the ministry they serve in, but sometimes you just want to see it! We want Temple Days to be that opportunity!

We are bringing experienced practitioners into all areas of the event to lead each session. As team you will serve as small group leaders and be able to learn from this experience as they do the workshops with the children. At the end of the day, after the children have left, a leaders' session will provide the opportunity for deeper explanation and questions. (There will be activities provided for leaders' children during this time).

As a temple days leader you will need to commit to:

  1. Coming along to the team meeting the night before from 8pm-9.30pm at St Chad's, Romiley. We want to make sure everyone is prepared for the day and as excited as possible!!

  2. Being at St Chad's, Romiley for the full Temple Day (8.45am—4.45pm) and helping wherever is needed.

Adult places are open to those who are not able to commit to the team meetings and responsibilities but would like to experience the event too:

Please note that you will be allocated to a small group that may not contain any children that you know

If you have any queries or problems please contact Elle Bird (elle@stchadsromiley.co.uk or 0161 430 4652) as we would love to enable as many people as possible to take part in the day!
