Can I sell food or drinks?

Accepted Answer

If you intend to sell food that you have made or prepared you must follow basic food and hygiene standards. For further guidance please check out guidance from the Food Standards Agency

If I am selling food what do I need to do about food allergens?

Accepted Answer

Please ensure you display a list of all food allergens and label the ingredients of your produce.  For further advice follow the guidance contained  here https://www.food.gov.uk/safety-hygiene/food-allergy-and-intolerance

Question 4

How do I avoid people requiring their money back for goods sold

Accepted Answer

We recommend you put a small, 'Sold as seen',  sign up and invite people to check goods over thoroughly before they buy.  If you are selling electrical goods (ensure they are in good working order) and (if possible) provide them the opportunity to test that it works.

Question 5

Do I need to have a lot of coin change for the day?

Accepted Answer

We recommend having up to £10 worth of coin change to begin the day to help you give people the appropriate change for payments.

Question 6

DoI have to have card payment options?

Accepted Answer

Generally speaking, people will be paying by cash.  If however,  you want to secure a sale and they don't have quite enough cash on them, you could offer PayPal account options (if you have one), but ensure you choose the 'friends and family option' to prevent unnecessary charges.
