Event description
Launch of the Terence MacSwiney Commemoration Committee [London] - with special guest speaker Martin Ferris TD.

About this Event

In anticipation of next year being the centenary of the death of Terence MacSwiney, Lord Mayor of Cork and TD for Mid Cork - who died after 74 days on hunger strike in Brixton Prison London - a Commemoration Committee is being established to promote his memory, celebrate his life, and host commemorative events in London.

Join us on Friday 26th July 2019 at 7pm in the Presidential Suite of the London Irish Centre to launch the Committee and lend us your support!

The launch will be addressed by special guest speaker Martin Ferris, TD for Kerry. Mr Ferris, who was himself on hunger strike for 47 days in 1977, will speak about the life of Terence MacSwiney and also discuss his book: "Ireland's Hunger For Justice - The Story of the 22 Hunger Strike Martyrs". Copies of the book will be available for purchase on the evening and there will be opportunity to have them signed.

The evening will also be an opportunity to discuss the Committee's plans for the time ahead.

The event is free and all are welcome to attend.
