Join artist-photographers Kat Gollock and Zoe Hamill to share your stories of the river, make prints using alternative photographic processes and learn more about their Terra Incognita project as part of Newstead’s inaugural Sundial Festival.
Through walking, photography, writing and gathering, Kat and Zoe seek to create alternative maps of the middle section of the River Tweed by collecting and marking the lesser-heard memories and stories that are housed within its banks and landscapes.
At their Sundial Festival stall (accessible via Eddy Road next to Newstead Village Green), Kat and Zoe are presenting a final workshop that forms a culmination of this year's Terra Incognita project.
Questioning the political power of mapping, Terra Incognita is a series of walks and photography workshops to gather stories that have historically been left out of official maps, archives and collections.
This is the fifth event in Terra Incognita, a new project conceived and delivered by photographers Zoe Hamill and Kat Gollock, and part of the Watery Commons 2025 programme by Connecting Threads.
Schedule
The photo walks will leave from the stall at 1pm and 3pm. Each will be a gentle walk along the river for approximately 30 minutes.
Access
Access to the Yiddy is via Eddy Road from Newstead Village Green.
There will be a disabled toilet at the Yiddy.
