From teacher to SENCo: You know how to do it in your classroom, but how do you get them to do it in their classroom?
It's all very well being an effective SEN practitioner in your own classroom: you can research the needs of the different types of SEN that crop up and change your practice accordingly, and you have an intuitive idea of how to provide an inclusive classroom.
But now, you've got to be an expert on all the different SEN needs in the whole school, and you've got to show OFSTED and the Headteacher that you are on top of the progression of pupils that you don't actually see on a day to day basis.
This course looks at the differences between doing it yourself and enabling others to do it, and includes:
- managing effective IEPs
- inspiring the classroom practice of others
- using data to monitor and improve progression
- using outside agencies to support your school
- dealing with OFSTED and governors
This course is designed for the new in post SENCo, or for those who have been in post a while, but are frustrated by the impact they are having. It would also be of benefit for those considering applying for the role but unsure of whether it is for them.
