Event description

Tesco Consett Genesis Extra urges residents of Consett to walk for a world without dementia.

A Memory Walk to help people with dementia and their carers is being organised in Consett as part of Alzheimer’s Society’s biggest annual fundraiser.

The event arranged by Tesco Consett Genesis Extra will take place on Sunday 6th August 2017 at Consett Cricket Club. The route is 5km within the grounds of the Cricket Club.

'We need people to join us and together, arm in arm, step by step and pound by pound, we will walk for a world without dementia,’ said Kirsty Lawrence, your Community Champion

We wanted to do something to fight the condition whilst walking with others who truly understand.

Raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society is a vital way of supporting people living with this condition, and we hope that our contribution will help fund research into better treatments. We would love to see us come together for a common cause. We would encourage you all to put a couple of hours’ time aside to join us for this lovely event – the more the merrier. Then enjoy the community fun day we have organised for the whole family.

Tesco Consett Genesis Extra’s Memory Walk takes place at Consett Cricket Club starting at 12:00 noon.

You will receive a 'I'm walk for...' label to wear during your walk and once you've finished you will be handed a Memory Walk Badge for completing the walk.

All participants who take part do so at their own risk; The organisers would like to stress that the walk is not a race, it is a fund raising event to help the Alzheimer's Society. Dogs are welcome to join in on the walk but must be kept under control and on a leash at all times. You are responsible for cleaning up after your dog and bins will be provided.

Tesco Consett Genesis Extra have organised this event in support of Memory Walk, an initiative of the Society, registered charity 296645.
