Invitation to IVAR Test and Learn Round-up: Community Action in Morecambe Bay

About this event: Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System has invested in the experience and expertise of the Institute for Voluntary Action Research (IVAR) to support the development of the integrated care jigsaw with the Voluntary, Community & Faith sector and Primary Care Networks in neighbourhoods. This demonstrates the ambition of local partners to work better together supporting the health and wellbeing of local people.

On Thursday 22nd July, beginning promptly at 10am, we are proud to host a short webinar led by Lancaster District Community and Voluntary Solutions CEO Yak Patel and Bay Medical Group GP partner, Dr Andy Maddox (also Bay Medical Primary Care Network Clinical Director) who will share their experiences of setting up a network of local community partners, a Community Action Network (CAN). Both leaders will share what drives their joint action, including how and why this approach will make a difference to supporting heath and wellbeing in the West End community of Morecambe Bay.

Background: Inspired by the Art of Connecting Communities the CAN takes a population health approach at a place- based level. As we begin to recover from the pandemic it has become even more apparent that the focus must be on all determinants of health, not just healthcare. The driving force is empowering people and communities, developing their capabilities, and embedding health equity.
